I’d happily stay here again. The staff were friendly and did everything they could to make my visit comfortable, and the mixed salad and baked fish fillet were excellent. My room was large and clean, with good lighting, a lovely view of local houses and a garden, and the refreshing sound of the river. The mattress was very comfortable, and there’s an elevator.

The food was nice, but the service left a bad impression. We only ate at the restaurant, so I can’t comment on the hotel. The waitress who took our order was friendly, though we only saw her that once. When we asked if we could sit at any outdoor table, another waitress gave us a dismissive nod and walked off. We were told where to get a child seat ourselves, with no offer of help. After the meal, nobody checked in, so I couldn’t order another drink or dessert. Don’t expect a hello, thank you, or good evening either.

The schnitzel was good, and it’s a nice spot for a Swiss meal. The odd part was being told the outdoor dining area was full, then seeing people seated there after us.

We had a delicious lunch today, June 2025, from the reasonably priced daily menu rather than the main menu. The cocktails were great too, and the service was amazing, though I forgot to get the lovely lady’s name. The restaurant is within walking distance of Brienz train station, and sitting outside gives you amazing views.

We only ate here, so I can’t comment on the rooms. The meal was decent, though not cheap, and we found better food for less elsewhere on our trip. There was barely any English spoken. The flies were all over the outdoor dining area and really brought the experience down.
