You can see the mountains from every window, and the owners are incredibly kind and accommodating. The beds are wonderfully comfortable, and the apartment is charming, cozy, spotlessly clean, and very well equipped. The location is fantastic: Ballenberg Open-Air Museum, the Trauffer Hotel with its Kuhniverse, Lake Brienz, and the Rothorn cable car are all within walking distance. The best place to vacation in Switzerland.

With Switzerland’s prices and those lovely surroundings, I thought the cottage was good value. The view from the window is beautiful, and the area is peaceful, very close to Lake Brienzesee. The place is old but clean, and you’ll probably be out exploring most of the time. There are three spacious bedrooms, plus a living room with a TV and stereo. It has pretty much everything you’d have at home, including a washing machine, dishwasher, Krups coffee machine, kettle, and lots of pots and pans. The elderly hosts are very friendly and speak German and English.

The owner is really respectful, and the apartment is lovely. It’s about a 15-minute drive from Antlaken. Nights are very quiet and dark there, since the villagers go to sleep after the sun sets.
