ibis Chur

The balcony looked out toward the mountain behind the hotel, and we found the room lovely. The shower had hot water, and the air conditioning worked fine. We were only in Chur for one night because we needed to catch the Bernina Express at 8.19am the next morning. The bus stop is a short walk away, so getting around town was easy. Before we arrived, the hotel emailed us to check in online so they could get our key ready. At Ibis Chur, the receptionist was very friendly and suggested a few places to shop and visit during our day there. We hadn’t known public transport was free until she sent the link for my friend Yvonne and me. There was breakfast too. I really liked the cheeses, bread, oranges, and salad, though it was a pity there was no chicken ham since we don’t eat pork, which contains lots of parasites. Accor also always gives us a welcome drink for two.

Sandro and Iván were great with us. When the internet caused problems, Sandro went beyond what we expected and found us another room at the partner hotel Mercure City West. He took care of all the arrangements himself and walked over there with us. That made for an exceptional experience. Thanks, Sandro! I’d recommend Ibis and Mercure Chur to anyone.

The beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was nice, with strong water pressure and plenty of hot water. Everything was clean. We stayed one night, just a couple of minutes on foot from the bus stop. Having a McDonald’s there was handy for a late meal.

We chose IBIS CHUR for a night before catching the Bernina Express in the morning. The room felt very overpriced and was tiny for two people. There’s no electric kettle unless you leave a 30 CHF deposit, which seemed really weird. Breakfast choices were limited, and the lobby smelled like a clogged drain. There isn’t much to do outside the hotel, especially on Sundays.
