The property is amazing, and I had a great stay. The owner is very nice and accommodating. It’s a one man show, so be patient and he’ll make sure you have a pleasant stay.

The setting is peaceful and scenic, right beside the lake with a beach nearby, several restaurants within walking distance, and the nearest train station about 10 minutes away. With a car, most major tourist destinations across Switzerland are reachable in under 30 minutes. The rooms were exceptionally clean and the beds very comfortable. There’s no air conditioning, as is common in Switzerland, but the temperature drops a lot at night, so we slept well. The hotel feels cosy and welcoming, and offers free on-site parking, reliable internet, and a fresh, delicious breakfast every morning. We were extremely pleased with our stay and will definitely return. Highly recommended as a relaxing, convenient base for seeing Switzerland.

The owner is great, and the hotel itself is good. On our first day, we had to check ourselves in because one of the owner’s guests needed to go to the hospital. That was completely understandable. Later, as we were heading out to enjoy the view, an older lady, maybe the owner’s wife, watched us close the door and got upset, saying it was too loud and might disturb the neighbors. We weren’t speaking loudly or making any other noise. We could hear the neighbors’ computer when their door was open, and at night they shut their door with a loud bang too. Even after our door was shut, she kept going downstairs muttering and complaining. It felt like an overreaction. If she’s that worried about doors, maybe she should stay on that floor and supervise everyone. Just be extra careful if you meet her, so you don’t do anything that might upset her.

Check-in was fine, and the room was clean and comfortable with a superb view. But after three separate experiences with the owner that left me speechless, I’m making an exception to my usual rule of rarely leaving negative reviews. He spoke to me like a naughty child several times: for using the wrong sharp knife to cut bread, sorry mate 🙄; for asking for basic breakfast items at 7:30am because we kept missing breakfast while hiking; for preparing food at an inside table instead of outside; and for asking to settle the bill by credit card when we had no cash. It’s a hotel, that’s totally acceptable. He was frosty, arrogant, and rude, with no clue about customer service. We were travelling with our 8-month-old son, and it was very hot, but the room had no air conditioning. The walls are really thin, and we heard everything when our neighbors stayed up making lots of noise. The restaurant and reception were very poorly attended, even by phone. In short, avoid this place. It’s overpriced and definitely not a 3-star hotel.
