Falken Pub & Motel

The restaurant is a big part of the appeal. The former Pickwick pub is now a cosy dining room, and the food is a high standard, with burgers like pulled chicken, Kangaroo and even horse. My Falken burger was one of the best I’ve had, with succulent beef, egg, tomato, sauce, onions and the chef’s secret sauce. There are whiskies and cigars too. The hotel is in a historic building that was once called the Hotel California, then returned to its original name, the Falcon Hotel (Gasthof zum Falken), in 2006. The staff are amazingly friendly, and the place feels cosy. Rooms spread over three floors have American themes and US names. They’re comfortable and perfectly adequate, with free WiFi and a television, and the cleanliness was excellent. There’s no lift, so that’s something to consider if you have mobility issues. I can personally recommend it.

Carine & her Team make you feel right at home. The bar has a typically Swiss feel and a good beer selection, while the rooms are quirky, with really comfy beds and hot showers. It’s well located and quieter than some hotels closer to the station. Would recommend 😎

For a business trip to Frauenfeld, I’d recommend this hotel. The room was neat and clean, and there were plenty of choices at the breakfast buffet. Public parking is right in front, free from 7 pm to 8 am.

Loved the atmosphere, the people were great, and the food and drinks were amazing!
