Backpackers Villa Sonnenhof - Hostel

We booked two nights at first, then enjoyed ourselves so much that we stayed for six. The whole team was friendly, helpful, and supportive. Thanks especially to Nitin, Sara, and Eric, and everyone who shared local tips and made us feel at home. The atmosphere was warm and everything was well organized, with a great base for exploring Interlaken and the Jungfrau region. We were there for New Year’s Eve, 31 Dec 2025, and seeing the fireworks on 1 Jan 2026 made it a memorable stay. We’d happily come back.

After long days skiing in the Jungfrau region, it was great to come back to warm, clean rooms, handy ski storage, and good common spaces. The staff were friendly, helpful, and accommodating, and the place was affordable and well organized. We had a fantastic week at Backpackers Villa, with easy access to the mountains. We’ll definitely return for another ski trip to Jungfrau.

The breakfast is pretty basic, just bread with jams, butter, cheese, coffee, tea, and juice. Still, Backpackers Villa felt like a comfortable base, not just somewhere to sleep. It’s clean, organized, and has a relaxed, welcoming feel, right in the centre of the city and close to everything in Interlaken. I loved the common areas for meeting people or unwinding, and the huge, well-equipped kitchen was handy when I didn’t want to eat out. The staff were friendly and helpful too.

Breakfast was first class, with usually five kinds of bread and two excellent coffee machines. The orange juice was the best I’ve tasted in Switzerland. My Eco Twin room at Backpackers Villa had one double bed and one single bed, and it was clean and comfortable. The showers were always available and clean. Eric and Sara at Reception were excellent.
