Hapimag Resort Interlaken

Our apartment had two bedrooms and a sofa bed in the living room, with a well-equipped kitchen. The location and views were superb, and the staff were helpful and friendly. It's good for a longer stay with kids. Just keep in mind that it's an apartment, so there's no daily housekeeping like in a regular hotel room.

The resort was a great place to unwind after exploring. Our room was very spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the included breakfast had plenty of high-quality options. The front desk team and servers were warm, polite, and attentive, with proactive service that made us feel welcome. It's near the town center, with shops and restaurants an easy walk away. There's a bus stop right outside, with service every 30 minutes to the train station and main lakeside attractions. Guests also get a city pass at check-in for free public transport within the city. It exceeded our expectations, and I'd happily stay again.

We stayed four nights and had a good time, mostly out after breakfast and back in the evening from excursions. We chose it because the kitchen suited travelling with a child, so we could make our own meals instead of always looking for somewhere to eat. It was also handy for the train stations and Harder Kulm. We'd consider coming back, though probably not in summer without air conditioning, and maybe we'd look for somewhere with a microwave and housekeeping. They describe the place at check-in as more like an Airbnb. The location is pretty good, between Interlaken Ost and Interlaken West, with a bus stop outside and restaurants close by. Coop is about a 5-7 minute walk. Staff were very friendly at check-in and offered free luggage storage before and after. The kitchen has utensils, the elevator is a decent size, and breakfast had pretty good options for Europe. There's a pool and sauna, too. The hours weren't ideal: check-in is around 4 PM, later than most places, and checkout is at 10 AM, earlier than most. Reception isn't open around the clock. During our four nights the room wasn't cleaned once, and we had to take the rubbish out ourselves. That was disappointing, especially after paying over $3,500 CAD for four nights. Laundry costs 5CHF per wash and 5 CHF per dry; the washer was small, as in most European hotels, so we needed two machines. I expected laundry to be included at that price. Extra towels and garbage bags cost more, and we only had three garbage bags and three biodegradable bags. There's no microwave, so we reheated food on the stove. No air conditioning wasn't a big issue during our stay because it wasn't hot, but I'd think about that for summer. The shower only had a body wash and shampoo combo, with no free lotion or conditioner. We brought our own, so it was fine, but for the price I'd expected those to be available.

The room was the worst part. The website's description felt misleading: “2 rooms” meant one bedroom plus a dusty, dirty sofa bed in the living room. Families, two couples, or groups would need the 3 bedder room. The layout was odd, and shelves were bolted where they could be hazardous for anyone 1.65m or taller. The place didn't feel like a resort. There was only one pillow per bed, and it was uncomfortable. You can get more from the store room, but it was so dusty I didn't want to. The mattress wasn't four-star quality, and underneath the bed was dirty and dusty. Housekeeping wasn't provided. Maybe that's because they're under a private equity company, but it takes away an important part of hospitality. The toilet was clogged, towels were so thin they could pass for floor or hand towels, and the shower soap bottle was less than half full. It felt stingy, like they thought one squeeze was enough. The cutlery and utensils were good, but the dish soap seemed heavily diluted, so you had to use more to clean properly. Again, it felt like they were really in budget mode. The receptionist with glasses didn't smile at me and lacked warmth. The way she spoke gave typical cold Swiss vibes, so I don't think she should be working at the front desk. She smiled at other people, though. I'm Asian, and Interlaken gets many Asian visitors. I wonder if she was racist, since she smiled at others but not me. At the steam room, note that this resort charges 17chf for a bathrobe, while other resorts or hotels give one for free. We emailed our feedback expecting some action, but nobody replied. LMAO. I'll never come back to hapimag. Avoid at all cost, and I'm a level 18 google reviewer.
