Daisy, the hotel’s sweetest cat, was a real highlight. She’s so social, and when I was visibly shaking because I was nervous about paragliding, she came over and sat with me. The staff were just as lovely, and even let us leave our luggage there all day after checkout. My sister and I stayed two nights, with a clean room, a lovely breakfast, and a stunning mountain view. It’s quiet away from the city noise, so you hear birds with the windows open. It’s a nine-minute walk to Interlaken west station and 19 minutes to interlaken ost. The concierge isn’t always there, but there’s a number to call if you need anything. 10/10 recommend!

The room was nice and cosy, and parking is first come, first served, though there’s a parking area nearby. It was all fine otherwise. Breakfast didn’t work well for a picky eater like me, since the choices were limited.

The cat’s name was the one thing we left wondering about. The pillows also felt uncomfortable at first, though I got used to them and they were quite fine after that. Apart from those small things, Hotel Derby was cosy and peaceful, with a great location for exploring Interlaken and the surrounding area. The staff were attentive, friendly, and ready to help from the start, and the service felt impeccable. They clearly care about guests’ well-being. I’d definitely return and recommend it.

Check-in wasn’t smooth. We waited 30 minutes at the door and had to call the host to sort things out, even though we’d already paid. Breakfast was much too noisy, with the host talking loudly to a friend while we were eating.

We had a peaceful, cosy stay at The Derby, conveniently tucked away from the bustle but still well located. Our room was comfortable with a nice mountain view, and the air conditioning worked well. Breakfast was very nice, and the hotel cat stopped by for head butts and rubs. We were also allowed to store our luggage after checkout while we explored for the day. It was our first time using self check-in, and the team helped us at every step, from the reservation through check-in, so everything went smoothly.
