Hotel Edelweiss

The room was clean and looked nice, and we were able to check in early. It was close to everything, and after a long day of travel we planned to have dinner at the hotel. At check-in we were told the restaurant opened at 6pm, but when we were ready the receptionist said it opened at 7:30 and needed a booking, so we had to eat elsewhere. There were two things we didn’t like in the room: a bad smell from the bathroom, and a locked connecting door through which we could hear everything from the room next door. If those issues were fixed, we’d definitely come back. Otherwise, all good, and I’d recommend it to friends. Thanks.

We loved the cozy hotel, its friendly staff, and the delicious restaurant food. On our first night, we arrived very late and woke to people working outside our window. We contacted the manager, who was very kind, refunded that night, and changed our room. The second room was very clean and had a great view. We stayed two nights and had a great experience. We’ll come back.

We had a comfortable one-night stay with everything we needed. The rooms have a kitsch style and are a very good size for the city centre. It’s an easy walk to the lake and train station. We booked B&B without breakfast, so I can’t comment on that service. There are plenty of nearby cafes and restaurants, plus a discreetly designed supermarket next door.

The staff were excellent and did what they could, but the room setup made sleep miserable. I ended up checking out early and giving up my prepaid final night after several of the worst nights of sleep I’ve had in months. The first room had a heater that hissed all night even when switched off, like an old radio full of static. Earplugs were necessary. After the first night I asked reception to check it. Maintenance said there was no issue, then came again the next day and said that was just how the system worked. On the third night, someone in the room below presumably switched on their heating, and a loud knocking went on from 11pm to 7am. Even earplugs and noise-cancelling headphones together couldn’t block it. Reception moved me to a quieter room for the last night because they couldn’t promise the knocking would stop.
