Saint Gervais

The room was unbearably hot, and the only help was a small fan. I couldn’t sleep. The shared bathroom was disgusting and clogged, with the toilet backing up into the shower, so I couldn’t shower either. Since there was no staff on site after hours, nobody could use the toilet on our level. The staff member who greeted us was friendly, though, and the location was good.

The room is small and really suited to one person, but the shared WC on the floor was always available and never caused me a problem. Staff were friendly and accommodating. The location is excellent, close to public transport, Carnavin main train station, and Geneva Lake. It’s also easy to get to from the airport and WHO etc. offices by public transport, with plenty of nearby restaurants and shops, including Manor.

The shared toilet and shower are an interesting setup. I was lucky to have them just across the hall, and both my room and bathroom were quite clean. The rooms are very compact by North American standards, and some aren’t rectangular, as the photos make clear. Two people can fit, but it’s a squeeze. If you’re over 5'5, you won’t fit on the bed. There’s no A/C, so you’ll need to crack a window. I was there in late May and that was fine. Noise wasn’t an issue for me, though that could easily change. The front desk and entrance lock at 3pm, which didn’t affect me, but an American couple I met nearly couldn’t get into their room after their train was late. Another guest leaving let them into the lobby. The hotel said their key would be in the room, but they’d been given the wrong room number and had trouble reaching management to sort it out. Luckily, a staff member came by about an hour later and got them into the right room.

The staff were super friendly and made me feel welcome. My room was clean and comfortable, a nice place to relax. It’s right in downtown Geneva, just a five-minute walk from the train station. Highly recommend!
