The sheets had holes, the Wi-Fi kept dropping, and there was a strong chemical smell in the room when we arrived. The playground was falling apart too. What a shame, since the hotel is well located and we really enjoyed the area. Our stay was spoiled by the manager’s incredibly rude service. The wine had one price on the daily menu, but we were charged another. He refused to refund the difference and said that as Aldi customers we were lucky with the price anyway. He treated Aldi customers noticeably differently from everyone else. Perhaps the place has struggled since COVID-19, but that still doesn’t excuse rudeness or charging customers a different price from the one shown.

The restaurant serves good quality Italian food, and the waiter was very nice. It’s an old-style hotel, but very clean and handy for hikers on the Via Alpina. The hotel manager seems much like those at nearby hotels, so I think the comments below are a bit harsh.

The rooms were clean and tidy, but the included breakfast fell a little short of expectations and didn’t offer much variety. The manager was very unfriendly and tried to deny our booking so he could sell us a more expensive room. We had to call the online booking site to get access to the rooms we’d already paid for. Elm is a lovely village for a holiday, but I wouldn’t stay at Sardonas again.

Breakfast was okay, nothing special, and looking back the price felt quite high. The welcome was extremely unfriendly. They said a room we’d booked through another website wasn’t registered in their system and tried to sell us a different room for extra money. Once we contacted the website and sorted it all out, we didn’t even get an apology. We won’t stay at this hotel again.
