Hotel Porto Sofie

We loved starting each morning with breakfast by the water, especially the view, fresh bread, and great coffee. The room was a different story: it was extremely hot, and the cat-litter smell was strong. With the windows open, it still felt like a sauna until around 9 pm each summer evening, so we spent as little time there as we could. Since the hotel welcomes pets, be aware that a room may smell. I imagine the hotel would be lovely in fall or winter, and bringing a fan might help.

The staff were so kind and helpful, and the whole place had a wonderfully relaxed feel. Our room was spacious and elegant, and the hotel itself is beautiful and comfortable. It reminded me of a marvelous English Tudor inn, a real jewel on the Rhein.

We always enjoy coming here. The setting is gorgeous, with nature and birdsong all around, and there’s a boat right outside the hotel. It’s also close to the train station and within walking distance of Konstanz, Germany. The old waterfront building is beautiful, the friendly staff provide great service, and the rooms are clean with the basics you need. There’s no air conditioning, though, if that’s essential for you. Breakfast is high quality, and the downstairs lobby bar and restaurant has a nice outdoor seating area too.

The staff were incredibly warm and helpful, and the vintage furniture gives the place a special charm. I loved the beautiful garden restaurant overlooking the lake. A magnificent hotel, everything felt perfect, and I highly recommend it.
