Hôtel de Gruyères

I keep coming back after many years of vacationing here. It's a special place, with comfortable rooms, exceptional views, and easy access to Gruyere, one of Switzerland's most beautiful towns. The buffet breakfast is amazing. Thank you to the team for making each stay so lovely.

The balcony room had such peaceful, romantic views, and falling asleep to crickets and cowbells was magical. The staff were courteous and welcoming. It's close enough to Chateau for an easy walk into the village, yet far enough away to stay quiet. This was the perfect place for our belated honeymoon. We hope to return soon.

We stayed two nights. The location is good, and the best part was the reception staff. Every woman there was friendly and professional. The sauna was a nice surprise. I gave only three stars because of the breakfast, the breakfast staff, the total price in the off season, and the room. The rooms are very old, and the bathroom, especially the shower, needs renovation. I'd recommend it for a night or two.

The location was excellent, and we found a parking space right next to the hotel. The entrance road to the parking lot is very narrow, so look carefully for it. We booked a regular room, which was very small, with no space to lay out our checked-in size luggage. My husband had to carry it up to the second story. There's no AC, and when we opened the window to cool off, a couple of bugs came in because there were no screens. As with many European hotels in old buildings, there is no elevator, so it wouldn't be accessible for someone using a wheelchair. Knowing these things ahead of time should prevent unpleasant surprises.
