Hotel Wetterhorn

Hotel Wetterhorn seemed like just the quiet place we wanted after a full day of cycling. The rooms and terrace have a lovely view, and the hotel itself is nicely designed. We ate well, the service was fair, and breakfast was excellent. But there was a birthday party going on, with loud music that went on until 3 am. It was so loud our bed was vibrating, even though the party was two floors below us. We got through to the night porter, but it still took at least half an hour for the music to be turned off. If you want a calm stay, ask whether there's a celebration booked during your visit. If there is, I'd stay away.

The staff were really nice and helpful, and the location was great. They helped us celebrate our birthday party so well, and the hotel gave us a lovely postcard and a drink as a gift. Thanks for making our holiday and birthday even nicer!

We had dinner too, and it was very tasty. There's one four-course menu, with a vegetarian option, made using local ingredients. Nothing fancy, but a good wine selection as well. The old hotel sits in a very pretty spot, and its interior has been renovated in an interesting way. Our room was spacious, with a rustic modern look that we really liked. There was no bathroom door, but it didn't affect our comfort. We really enjoyed the stay.

We were there a week before Christmas, when the snow outside made the atmosphere especially nice. The restaurant served Glühwein outside for aperitif, with a small platter of meat and cheese inside. Then we sat down to a salad and a delicious soup. The main platter had entrecôte, burgers, and vegetables, and it was all amazing. For dessert, they asked us to go to the bar, where we were served something homemade. The food was excellent from start to finish, and the service was great too. They have a fresh five-course menu every day. I go there every year!
