Ristorante Stazione

The owners make the whole stay feel special, so warm and passionate about what they do. The rooms are beautiful and cozy, and the view is the kind you keep dreaming about. The food is top quality, and the wines are lovely too.

That huge balcony, with glass stretching from floor to ceiling, opens onto a view that’s hard to put into words. The food is just as remarkable. Every restaurant I’ve tried from Michelin’s coveted list has delivered an almost overwhelming experience for the taste buds, and this one is no exception. I could try to describe the dishes, but I’ll leave it at this: the food is amazing, full stop. I’ll be frank about one thing, though. The chef has no empathy, and you notice it once you know what to look for. I wouldn’t compare this place to my all-time favorite, The French Laundry, but I’d like to share a thought from Thomas Keller, a modest chef with as much empathy as talent: perfection in food is an idea, and striving for it is really about making people happy. That’s what cooking is about.

After a long hike, we only had time for a quick drink before catching the train back to Locarno. The service was lovely, and it was the best Coke ever! We’ll definitely try to come back and stay for more than a drink.

The food and service were good, and we’d come back. We booked late, so we didn’t get a table at the front, but the restaurant has a great view.
