Hostellerie de la Vendee

It was quiet because the hotel is a little way from Geneva's city center, and public transport was easy to reach. My room was really nice, and the reception staff were friendly. I couldn't give it five stars because breakfast didn't feel worth what we paid.

The staff were friendly and the location is handy, but that wasn't enough for me at this price. The rooms feel old and dull. There are no power sockets beside the bed, and neither the AC nor the TV worked. The fridge was loud, the elevator bumpy, and the street gets noisy from 6am. For what it costs, I expected a lot better.

I stayed here years ago for the restaurant and it was okay, but tonight's hotel room is a different story. It's tiny, and I can hear all the noise from people using the restaurant bathroom, as well as smell their poo. Disgusting. The chair is broken, the wardrobe is partly broken, and there were no hangers when I arrived. I had to call the concierge to shut the window because the latch was stuck open, maybe to reduce the smell. At 260chf a night, this isn't acceptable.

The staff were pleasant, and the location felt safe. You can walk to the light rail, places to eat, and the old town if you're up for a bit of walking. It isn't a five-star place for looks, but for a simple, affordable night or two, I'd highly recommend it.
