Royal Savoy Hotel & Spa

I never made it to Royal Savoy, and I can only assume the rooms and location were decent. The concierge had told me to relax and let him arrange everything for my Switzerland trip, where I planned to ride the Glacier Express and Bernina Express. Instead, the whole process was a disaster. There was no consistency, the service was closed on weekends, and a different person handled each contact. They suggested six or seven hotels that had no vacancies. I had to check each one myself, then explain the problem to another concierge. One place I finally booked cancelled my reservation three days later. In the end, I cancelled the whole trip and lost about $500 in nonrefundable train fares. Good riddance, Royal whatever.

Our family of five, adults, teens, and a baby, felt right at home. The staff were so naturally kind and helpful, as well as really well trained. We were happy with pretty much everything: the facilities, service, location, the building and interior, how flexible the staff were, and the spa. Thank you all. I can’t recommend staying here enough, we left with only happy feelings.

The location is nice, though the room seemed dated and could use a major update. Late at night I ordered a burger and fries. The burger arrived cold and soggy, but I didn’t feel like complaining then. Earlier, I’d asked the waiter for a menu. He said, “give me two seconds,” and never came back.

The Royal Savoy has loads of character and charm, and we had a memorable stay in Lausanne. Breakfast was amazing, and the hotel bar staff were excellent. Definitely worth a visit!
