I rarely leave a low rating, and this is the first time I’ve given a 2/5. The rooms were clean, which was the only positive. The staff were friendly enough at first, but came across as nearly rude. We requested a quiet room and thought we’d got one. It faced the church bell tower, though, and the bells rang at random throughout the day and night, on the hour, half-hour, and quarter-hour. The hotel is on a side street rather than the main road, as I’d thought from checking the location, but traffic was still heavy all day. There was construction below the hotel from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the room looked onto three terraces where guests laughed and drank late into the evening. At CHF 250 a night, the breakfast was shockingly poor. There was no choice of hot drinks, just a thermos of coffee and a little milk. By 8:30 a.m., the jars of industrial jam were empty. The industrial pastries were very low quality, and flies were around at 8.30 in the morning and kept us company during the stay. It was appalling. We won’t come back. Anyone considering it should know what to expect.

The hotel is dated, but otherwise fine. The reception staff were curt and rude, with no hospitality at all. Dinner was terrible and inedible, and made it seem like the chef didn’t care. There are much better places in the area.

Our junior snow sports team stays at Hotel Kreuz regularly, and we plan to keep coming back. The staff are fantastic and it’s great value. Thanks to everyone at Hotel Kreuz for always taking care of us!

The food was delicious, and the manager and staff were the nicest, most welcoming people I met on my whole trip. They went well out of their way to help me. Such a great experience, I’d definitely do it again.

The clean rooms, good location, restaurant, and mostly decent service are the good parts. I especially thought the restaurant servers and cleaning ladies did an excellent job. Even so, after what happened with my family, I’ll never return and can’t recommend the hotel. This was our first family holiday since my mother died. Lenk had always meant a lot to her, so the trip was emotional for all of us. My father planned to stay ten days at Hotel Kreuz and invited his children and grandchildren to join him for parts of that time. We each booked a few days. My brother and I arrived together. He had reserved a family room for himself, his wife, and their children. He felt it didn’t meet the standard of my father’s room and asked to move. I wasn’t there for the conversation, but my brother said it became contentious. To me, asking to change rooms seems reasonable, and hotel staff should be able to calm things down when a guest is unhappy. That didn’t happen. My brother said the owner told him that guests shouldn’t make those requests during Covid19. My brother had seen a room he wanted while the cleaning ladies were working in it, and they let him look. The owner said it was unacceptable to enter a room while it was being cleaned. My brother eventually got that room, on the same floor as my father. After that, the owner and his wife were cold and harsh toward our whole family, as if we were all responsible for one another. That was especially hurtful during such an emotional holiday. Two incidents stand out. My sister arrived the day my brother left and took over the family room. When my father saw the cleaning ladies working there, he chatted with them and mentioned that his daughter would be moving in. The owner’s wife told him, “You are formally prohibited to talk to any of the staff. Since you arrived, we have had nothing but problems”. I found that outrageous. She could ask her staff not to talk with him, but she had no right to stop my father from speaking to them. He was a paying guest and had not acted in a hostile way toward anyone. He’s a very agreeable, kind person. After my brother left, the owner emailed him about stains in the room that the cleaning ladies supposedly couldn’t remove, and said he might have to pay for professional cleaning. He added that this wouldn’t have happened in the other room because it didn’t have couches made of the same fabric. That felt incredibly petty from a hotel owner writing to a former guest. My sister was now staying in that room, so we checked the stains and could barely find them.
