The train made getting around easy, since the hotel is only a short walk from the station. Just keep in mind the trains to Aigle run once an hour, so plan ahead. We also took a bus to Col du Pillon one day and hiked back down via Lac Retaud. The hotel itself was quiet, clean, comfortable, and charming, with a really nice feel. Breakfast was included and delicious, unlike at the other places we stayed in Switzerland, and we ate dinner at the restaurant several times. The staff were friendly and helpful. Maybe the best place we stayed in Switzerland. I’d happily recommend it.

The food was good, but the waiter at dinner yesterday was drunk and smelled of alcohol. That’s not a good image for the restaurant.

The breakfast spread wasn’t especially full, but the bread and croissants were fresh and the coffee was good. The Portuguese lady serving breakfast made excellent coffees, was always smiling, and was great with the children. Seeing her first thing made for a lovely start to the day. Our family room cost 200chf and was above the dinner room, so there was a little noise if you went to bed before 11pm. It was spacious enough for us and had a small seating area, though we could have used more storage and hooks for drying our things. The rooms are as described: cozy, all wood, and not too modern, just right for Diablerets. There’s parking across the road, and the train, ski lift, and the race I took part in were all easy to reach on foot. The restaurant was excellent too. We had a great stay!

A group of 20 drunk guys were yelling, making a lot of noise, and hitting the table in a provocative way. The owner knew what was going on but ignored it and did nothing to stop them. We’d gone for a nice family dinner and ended up having a horrible night. It was truly a pity.
