Hotel de la Croix Fédérale

We loved our stay. The hotel is very cute, with clean, lovely rooms and modern bathrooms. The location is great, the breakfast buffet was great, and it was quiet at night, so we slept well.

The location deserves a 10, and the family room, though small, was exceptionally clean and comfortable. Breakfast was the highlight. There were lots of choices, including foods from other continents, which was a pleasant surprise compared with the continental breakfasts we've had at other European hotels.

We loved the historic feel of the building and found the renovations tasteful. My wife and I knew some rooms might feel a bit cramped by modern standards, since the building is hundreds of years old, but we were comfortable. The staff, especially Diana, were kind. They let us check in early, store our bags after checkout, and gave us great suggestions for spending our time in Leukerbad. The hotel is a quick walk from the bus terminal and close to the city's activities. It was one of the highlights of our time in Switzerland, and I'd definitely recommend it.

We came for a relaxing mountain break, so the WiFi issues and lack of an electrical socket by the bed didn't bother us much, even though the internet barely worked most of the time. The breakfast buffet was fresh and delicious. The owner was proactive, spoke many languages, and kept checking what we needed. This tiny hotel is right in the middle of Leukerbad, with the alpine spa next door. Our gift-site coupon covered two nights, breakfast, and two days at the spa. A lovely spot for a romantic getaway, and well located in any season.
