Hotel Alex

I really enjoyed the steam rooms and spa facilities on site, and was pleasantly surprised to find they also have a finicular. The staff at Hotel Alex were so friendly and helpful with information about our stay, and they made sure there was gluten-free bread for my breakfast. I will definitely stay again.

We've stayed here several times and have always been happy. The hotel is centrally located, and the rooms are clean and spacious. Service is lovely and friendly. Breakfast has a good spread, and there's a spa area as well. Kids of all ages can use the game room, with foosball, air hockey, video games, and ping pong.

The staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The hotel is very well located, and its private lift, “Alex Express” :-), takes you to within ten meters of the ski cable car. Our room was nice and clean, and most rooms have great valley views. Thanks a lot!

The breakfast buffet had a good range: cold cuts, different breads, eggs to boil yourself with your choice of seasoning, honey, jams, cereals, juices, hot drinks, fruit, muesli, and yoghurt. I probably haven't listed everything. It did the job, though as a Brit I still missed bacon, hash browns, and baked beans. But that's hardly surprising in a remote mountain town! Downstairs, the sauna rooms were a welcome way to unwind after we arrived tired. The wellness area has a striking Grecian look, quite a contrast to the homely feel upstairs. When we visited, they were renovating the foot pools, I think, and one sauna wasn't working. Still, there was a 55°C lemongrass room, a 45°C menthol steam room, and an 85°C sauna. The jacuzzi tubs cost 5 CHF for a set amount of time, which I can't remember, and were limited to two people each. There were lovely recliners for resting, and the upper floor looks out at the sky, which would've been especially nice on a cloudy day. The reception felt homely, and although most signs were in French and German, I think, the woman there spoke enough English for us to communicate. She was very friendly and incredibly helpful. The decor is definitely older, but it felt like a lot of love had gone into it, and there may be a little surprise that made my friend and me laugh. The bedroom and bathroom were spotless, the towels smelled lightly floral, and I slept great. One thing to know: the sauna rooms are European style, so no bathing suits, and they were open from 16:30 to 19:00.
