Ostello & Camping Riposo

The place is surrounded by nature, with a river nearby where you can swim and cool off in the summer heat. It was peaceful at night, and the security made me feel safe. The staff were friendly, too. I stayed for a week at the end of August this year, and it was one of my best holidays. I’ll definitely come back.

The dorm felt spacious despite having lots of beds, and the place was very clean. Staff were friendly and quick to help. This family-run hostel is a few bus stops from Locarno and not far from the Caserma bus station. We spent one night at CAMPEGGIO-OSTERIA RIPOSO after travelling through the Verzasca Valley, then went on to Maggia Valley the next day. It’s good value, especially for Switzerland, and you can get a beer in the evening or a great coffee in the morning. There may be other options we didn’t try. A good fit for travellers who like meeting people but have a limited budget, or would rather spend their money on something else, like the 220m bungee jump from Verzasca dam, described as the highest in the world.

We were caught out by a huge thunder and hail storm, and the owner went well out of his way to get our gear dry and usable again. The place is really well looked after. I’ll definitely stay here whenever I’m in the area. I’d give it 10 stars if I could.

Trying to contact them through the website was awful. There’s no phone number, and the contact button leads to a form I couldn’t fill out. Just a really frustrating website to use.
