Barabas Hotel

The location was perfect, and breakfast had enough choices and tasted good. Sleeping in cells was an unusual experience, but we enjoyed it, and it was comfortable and clean. The corridor was noisy, and the bathroom wasn’t fully private because you could see a little through when the light was on, but that wasn’t a big deal.

We knew the cell room at Hotel Barabas Luzern would be small, but its thoughtful finish and tidy feel made the size a non-issue. The bathroom stood out, especially the very clean space and good shower after long days out exploring. We found the atmosphere friendly and appreciated the attention to detail. We were very comfortable and would gladly stay again.

The Library Room at Hotel Barabas Luzern was such a quirky, cozy place to stay. Shelves lined with books gave it character, and the beds were super comfortable. Everything was lovely and clean, and the shower had a powerful flow. From check-in onward, the staff were friendly and helpful. We loved how charming and comfortable it felt. Book it, you’ll love it!

We paid around €220 for one night for three people, and the value was extremely poor. I would never recommend staying here or come back. The heating barely worked, so we slept fully dressed and got only a little warmth from the exposed pipes. Using the shower or bathroom comfortably wasn’t possible. The hotel is in a former prison, and it still looks and feels like one. Our room was tiny, cold, and uncomfortable, with metal bunk beds and a sink inside. I could hardly sleep. When I went to reception to ask for a room with a normal bed, the receptionist suggested a shared room with other guests, saying it was “bigger.” He later offered another room that was even worse: no bed, just a cold leather sofa in another freezing room. Absolutely awful experience.
