Swiss Heidi Hotel

The room was very spacious, and the free parking was convenient. It’s also a good base for exploring the region. But we could hear people in neighboring rooms clearly, especially loud noise from next door that went on from late evening well into the night. Our room was right above reception, yet nobody stepped in. Around 2am we tried to report it in person and by phone, but reception was closed even though it was listed as open 24 hours. The pillows weren’t comfortable, and for the price the room was missing basics like bottled water, a kettle, and a fridge. Breakfast was very basic, and the food didn’t seem especially fresh.

The rooms and shared spaces were clean and cozy, decorated with a nice mix of rustic details and local alpine touches. The area around Maienfeld is peaceful, with stunning mountain views, and the region’s connection to the story of Heidi makes it a lovely place to get away from everyday life. Staff were friendly and helpful from check-in through check-out, and seemed to care about making the stay pleasant. Breakfast was fresh and tasty, especially the rich, aromatic, high-quality coffee. Hotel Heidi is a comfortable, quiet place to stay, and I’d gladly recommend it.

Room service was good and on time, and the restaurant waiters were kind, especially Elia. I’ve stayed twice, and the beds on the side away from the 100 rooms are better. The beds in the rooms to the left of reception on the 100 side are poorly built, so it’s hard to sleep well. Reception usually doesn’t feel very welcoming, except for one man. Breakfast lacks variety, and there aren’t any other special hotel facilities.

The sound insulation is extremely poor. From room 119, I heard the person next door snoring so loudly and clearly that it felt like they were in my bed. I went to reception at 2am to ask for another room, but none was available, so I had a sleepless night. In the morning, around 8, the cleaning team started vacuuming nearby rooms, and that was very disturbing too. Since the room was on the ground floor next to the parking lot, I also heard all sorts of cars driving away. The reception staff were kind and sympathetic when I told them, but of course they can’t change the hotel’s structure. If you stay here, I’d only do so with a higher-floor room facing the mountains. On the plus side, the service staff were exceptionally friendly, and the location near the highway is convenient for a stop on a long trip. Breakfast was standard for a Swiss hotel, with breads, cheese, muesli, cold cuts, eggs, cake, coffee, and so on. There’s a huge parking area with lots of Tesla chargers and a 50 KW DC CCS charger, which is great if you have an electric car. We got room 119, and honestly, it must be one of the worst rooms in the hotel.
