Hotel Maloja Kulm

The traditional wood-paneled room was comfortable and beautifully kept, and we really enjoyed both meals. The chef's food was excellent, but the warm, attentive staff made breakfast and dinner especially pleasant. We usually visit St. Moritz for its friendly, community feel, but for New Year's Eve we stayed a little farther out at Kulm Maloja and were glad we did. Definitely recommended.

We ended up staying an extra night in Engadin because the weather was so nice, but most places were booked. Then we found Maloja Kulm. It was less expensive than hotels in St Mo, Pontre or Samedan, so I wondered if there was a catch lol :D. The photos looked fine, and we didn't need a TV anyway. We booked a standard room with half board. The vintage room was clean and nice, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was clean. Water and tea were there too. Dinner and breakfast had a great menu, and the crew were friendly and accommodating. The private sauna looked very new and was spotless, with amenities, fruit, water and tea. There was also a small table of fresh fruit in the corridor to help yourself to. We felt welcome and comfortable, and had a really nice stay. Definitely recommend! :)

The common areas are well cared for, and our room was clean and cozy. This historic hotel just above the Maloja pass is a real gem, with very friendly staff. We'll definitely come back.

The room had no TV, though we'd hoped to watch the football match, the beds were uncomfortable, and there were no spare pillows. There wasn't even a phone to call reception, and when we raised these things at checkout, nobody from the staff was there. The hotel felt unprepared for guests. The spa cost 30 CHF and didn't feel worth it. Used towels had been left around the area, and the hotel never replied when we complained. Dinner was just as disappointing. The pasta was far too creamy and made us feel unwell, and again we got no response after telling the hotel. The location and the idea behind the place are lovely, but we left extremely let down. I wouldn't recommend the spa or dinner, or the hotel unless it makes major improvements.
