Even if you’re not into golf, the setting is a pleasure to look at. The staff were excellent and professional, and the location is a real plus. Luzern station is about a ten-minute drive away. Everything about the hotel felt just right.

The room was spacious and had a lovely view, but traveling with children was difficult. The TV felt outdated, with no internet connection or YouTube, and no English or Arabic channels. I travel often and can’t remember seeing this since 2015. Lucerne also feels nearly empty after 4 p.m., with very little for children to do. Housekeeping was poor. The balcony was often left dirty, and there was a huge amount of dust under the beds, despite plenty of space to clean there. If you have allergies, that dust will be troubling. The room was cleaned three times, but we still weren’t given soap or shower gel. There wasn’t an electric kettle either, which I found very strange. The room had only an espresso machine, so making a simple cup of tea wasn’t possible. Breakfast was shockingly poor and didn’t meet even basic expectations.

We chose Gasthaus Badhof – Golf Hotel for our honeymoon because it says it gives special attention to bookings for important occasions. The quiet location, polite reception staff, free parking, and lovely golf course view from our Deluxe Double Room with Balcony were the good parts. Beyond those, the stay fell well short of four-star standards, especially for a honeymoon. On arrival, there was a used coffee cup from the previous guest, along with visible dirty marks on the floor. It was a very disappointing first impression. Breakfast was another letdown, with very few choices, no tomatoes, just a few cucumber pieces that weren’t replenished, and drinking water that ran out and stayed empty. One staff member was handling the whole buffet, which made things worse. The Wi-Fi was slow and barely usable. I raised all of this with the receptionist at checkout and got a simple thank you for the feedback, with no further discussion. Cleanliness and service need serious improvement for a hotel that promotes special occasion stays.

We were traveling as a family with a small child and booked a hotel because we expected someone to be available if we needed help at night, especially in a foreign country. But there was nobody available after 5 PM, and no one had made this clear before we booked. That lack of transparency, together with the rude attitude, made an already disappointing stay worse. Basic things that are normally included elsewhere were treated as extras. Staff even told us we should be thankful we weren’t charged for cleaning the room. Even asking for water felt unwelcome and difficult. The staff were extremely rude, and at checkout the receptionist tried to charge for a 13:30 late checkout. When we refused, she made an offensive, unprofessional remark implying that the amount was nothing to us because we were rich. There was no service after 5 PM, and one staff member was responsible for the restaurant, reception, and housekeeping all day. This place felt like anything but a hotel, and it wasn’t worth the money.
