The waiter was really friendly with us and the kids, and the meal felt relaxed, with no waiting around. The fondue and cordon bleu were very good. Just know that the menu mostly sticks to those two dishes, with a few variations.
We went for both lunch and dinner, and had fondue one time and cordon bleu the other. Both meals were great, and the waiters were lovely on each visit. We’d definitely recommend it.
After more than 50 years of trying fondue all over Switzerland, I’ve never been served such a small portion. The classic fondue costs CHF 34 and I was still hungry. In central Switzerland, most places charge less, around CHF 24-26. The staff and chef said there were 200 g of cheese in it, but I really can’t see how that’s possible. The photo below shows the portion for two, just after we started. What a shame for Melchsee-Frutt.
The place is really cozy, and I had a lovely birthday dinner here. The staff were very attentive and did everything they could to make the celebration memorable. The fondue was delicious too.
