The staff were helpful and flexible, always doing their best to meet requests with a smile. We got great advice about hikes, and special thanks to Elina! There are lovely views from several patios and common areas, and the food was good, with vegetarian and gluten free options.

The lobby and reception have a nice retro feel, and the staff were nice too. But the rooms felt Soviet, very basic, and too small for two people. The pillows were flat, the mattress didn’t have proper sheets, it was boiling hot at night, and the curtains didn’t keep the strong morning light out very well. We paid £333 for two nights. Next time, I’d rather pay £50 more for a more comfortable hotel.

The hostel didn’t make a great first impression, but the large balconies and beautiful views were a pleasant surprise. The staff were welcoming and flexible. There’s parking for 10 Chf a day, and the terraces are lovely for sunbathing.

I asked for a refund because of the fire and was told not to go there. The staff said no. Ridiculous.

Most of the rooms are doubles with private bathrooms and south-facing balconies overlooking the valley. The team helps make the stay a great experience. This is a great youth hostel in a renovated historic Bauhaus building, definitely worth visiting again and again.
