J5 Hotels Helvetie Montreux

The Brasserie serves really delicious food and draws plenty of locals. The young staff are cheerful and ready to help, though the prices are a bit high. The hotel itself is a beautifully decorated old building, but the rooms are very cramped. There’s barely room to turn around in the shower, and the rooms seemed like they’d been split in half. The three old lifts also make getting around a bit of a challenge. Staff are very sympathetic, but reception felt disorganized, and you could be charged twice.

There was mold all over the bathroom, and it felt unhygienic. My family couldn’t use the hotel bathroom for our entire stay. It seemed poorly cleaned and had bad ventilation. A complete waste of money. I’m kindly asking for a refund.

The bus stops right outside, and it’s only a 3-minute walk to the lake and everything lovely Montreux has to offer. Staff throughout the hotel were helpful and lovely. The rooms are a little dated, but spotlessly clean. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the place, and I’d happily come back on my next visit.

A lovely view, a balcony where you can sit outside, and a really good breakfast. The hotel is in a historic building, with great service and a convenient bus stop nearby. The waterfront is an easy walk away.
