Italian Lifestyle Hotel Osteria Chartreuse

The Hotel Chartreuse gave us the quiet, real Swiss experience we were looking for during our four-night stay. We got free bus rides with the PanoramaCard Thunersee, and the stop is only a few hundred feet away. The rides to and from Interlaken Ost for our Jungfrau region trips were especially scenic. The hotel is also just a block from the dock if you want to take a boat into interlaken. For a special meal, the hotel's restaurant serves a four-course Italian fine dining experience, so come hungry. For something less expensive, Buvette Am See is another hotel-owned spot, a block away by the dock. You can eat with a beautiful view of the Thunersee there, and alcohol is sold. It's a hidden gem that adds to the appeal of the area. We had a five-day, four-night stay at this beautiful hotel. If you're looking for a distinctive place just outside Thun in Hunibach, I'd recommend checking it out.

Mr. Ates made the hotel feel like home. His warm smile, genuine kindness, and patient answers to all our questions made the holiday so much more enjoyable, and he was quick to help with anything we needed. The restaurant was another highlight, with delicious food, excellent service, and a really pleasant atmosphere. It was a pleasure meeting such a professional and friendly staff member. The room was clean and quiet, and the bedding was lovely. The comfortable double bed had a down comforter on each half. Annemarie happily let us check in early when we arrived just after noon. The building, patio, and grounds were all neat and well kept. There's also a small grocery store right across the street, and the hotel is only a short walk from the Lake Thun waterfront. Dinner at Chartreuse was exquisite. Ates, the Hotel and Restaurant Coordinator, suggested a red blend from Tuscany to go with the delicious food, and it was the best wine we've ever had, which is saying something. He even took us into the cool, dark cantina stocked with Italian wines so we could get the bottle. The three-course meal included crusty bread, fennel leaf salad, roast rack of lamb, sage butter ravioli filled with Italian sausage, and tiramisu. Our servers, Elena and Lorena, were delightful and engaging, and Ates kept topping up our glasses. Afterwards, he offered us a glass of Passito Del Vecchio liquor for free. You could tell he really enjoys giving guests an unforgettable experience. Breakfast was a fabulous buffet. Annemarie made sure we had everything we wanted and even cooked eggs for us, although it was set up as self-serve. Hotel Chartreuse, and Osteria da Pasquale, are definitely on our list for when we visit Switzerland again. It used to be called the Italian Lifestyle Hotel.
