Hotel-Oltnerhof

The self check-in was simple, and everything was clean and well organized. Being so close to the railway station makes the hotel handy for a short stay. I had an economy single room, though, and it had a pretty bad smell. I think it was from the deodorizer or the toilet ventilation. I knew there would be limits with an economy room, but the odor still made it a bit hard to stay in. Aside from that, things were great. I'd recommend it to travelers who just need a basic, convenient place.

I booked this because it was the cheapest option on booking, and I was on a bike tour and didn't want to spend much. After reading the reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was really glad I chose it. The hotel is about four minutes from the old town. Someone answered the doorbell right away, and check-in was a breeze. Within two minutes I had my room card. The room had everything I needed and was spotless, seriously grandma clean. The AC kept it cool even though it was over 30 degrees outside. I hadn't even realized breakfast was included, and in the morning a nice cleaning lady was wiping down all the chairs and keeping the place spotless again. Breakfast was a standard Swiss hotel spread with fresh fruit. If you need a night in Olten, this place is a great choice.

I found the room comfortable, tidy, and clean, and enjoyed the breakfast selection. I did have some trouble with the busy street noise, and lots of light came through the bathroom windows at night, so light sleepers might struggle. There wasn't much information in my room. It would help to have the Wi-Fi password, nearby restaurants, and things to do listed. Also, there's no coffee setup in the room, and the breakfast area shuts at 9 a.m., so after that you have to go out for coffee or tea. A kettle and cup in the room would be a nice addition.

The service was basically nonexistent, and there was literally nobody in the hotel. My room was abysmal. One of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. Stay away.
