Novotel Lugano Paradiso

The breakfast was delicious, with a big selection, and the cosy rooms had everything I needed. The hotel is nicely situated near the promenade. It made for a great Lugano stay.

Breakfast was a real plus, with a great buffet and regular refills. The breakfast service was a bit grumpy, though dinner and bar staff were really friendly. Free drinking water, including sparkling, is available on every floor. The room was quiet, cleaned well, and had a comfortable bed, but the carpet and curtains weren’t very nice. We reported twice that the coffee machine wasn’t working, and it stayed broken throughout our visit. The pool is beautiful, but in early September it only got sun from noon until 2:30, and even then not across the whole pool. It sits among three building blocks. They provide large free towels, which is great, and there’s a good Lido nearby if you want to swim in the lake. The small gym is functional, but needs a separate access card, something they could have mentioned or provided at check-in. The hotel is close to the lake, though it’s a pretty walk from downtown Lugano.

There’s plenty nearby for everyday needs, with a supermarket and restaurants close to the hotel. Lake Lugano is within walking distance, and you can take a boat ride to enjoy the view. The entrance to Monte San Salvatore is also walkable and offers a spectacular outlook over Lugano. For getting into the busy main city, it’s a quieter base just a few bus stops away, with a train to Paradiso train station and a bus stop near the hotel.

The bedroom was comfortable and clean, and there’s indoor parking on the property. You can also use the outdoor pool and fitness room. Both breakfast and dinner were good quality.
