Hotel La Barcarolle

Thanks so much to Ousmane at the Beach Bar. He got me a kayak, and exploring Lake Geneva on my own was unreal. I made it back just in time for a drink by the water at sunset, with music playing. Such a perfect end to the day. Even if you're not staying at the hotel, it's a great place to hang out and enjoy the lake.

The rooms felt spacious and comfortable. Breakfast came with fresh orange juice, and outside there was a covered beach patio with a bar and expansive grounds.

We had the metze, which was tasty and generously portioned. The restaurant was good, and the terrace has a wonderful view across the lake and Alps.

The lake setting is a big draw, and our room had a lovely balcony with a really good view. Sitting out there with a glass of wine in the evening was great. The hotel is nicely laid out, with a boutique feel, some lovely touches and plenty of shared areas to relax. Reception staff were welcoming and gave us all the information we needed. The restaurant was clean and tidy, with the same thoughtful layout as the other communal spaces. Service was excellent and the wait staff attentive, though quite slow. The food was premium priced, but great quality and carefully thought out, with attractive, contemporary presentation. Breakfast was banging! The scrambled eggs were perfect, and I'm hard to please. There was also a good selection of bread, meats and pastries, plus delicious freshly squeezed orange juice. The pool looked clean and good, though we didn't use it. The hotel is very close to Lake Geneva and has a beach bar, but it was closed to hotel guests for a private function when we visited. That was disappointing since we'd been looking forward to sitting by the lake. One older guest in particular came across as entitled and was rude to a waitress. I suppose you get that everywhere, though it's a digression from the hotel itself. We'd certainly return and highly recommend the hotel.
