Hotel Klein Matterhorn Randa

The location is handy, right next to the train station, and perhaps the hotel could do well under new management. Our experience with the owner was awful, though. Our guide had told us we could leave our bags there, but when we came back three days later, the owner launched into a ten-minute rant about tourists being disrespectful. All we’d asked was whether we could put two water bottles in the bin. The food was stale and not fresh, and the portions were tiny. A small sandwich, barely as big as my palm, cost 6 francs.

Having mountain views from our apartment made the stay even more memorable, and getting to Zermatt was easy with Hotel Klein Matterhorn right beside Randa train station. The owner even let us leave our car parked at the hotel for free while we took the train to Zermatt, until we returned that afternoon. Parking and WiFi were both free. Our spotless two-bedroom apartment had plenty of space, a large bathroom, a separate toilet, and a big kitchen with everything we needed, including a fridge. The beds were extremely comfortable. It was honestly the best night’s sleep I had during our eight days in Switzerland. The owner personally showed us the apartment and explained everything clearly. He was lovely, and the service felt warm throughout our stay. We absolutely loved it and would happily return. Highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Marco was attentive and very kind, and we’d stay here again. The price is good for somewhere this close to Zermatt. Randa station is the last stop covered by the Matterhorn lift pass shuttle ticket, and breakfast is available for an easy start to a day on the slopes. Thanks, Marco.

From the cable car ride up to the Klein Matterhorn to the snow-covered peaks stretching out at the top, the whole trip was breathtaking. The views felt surreal. Standing at Europe’s highest cable car station is a special experience, and a must-do when visiting Zermatt.
