Hotel Marmotte

The restaurant is a must, the meals were delicious. It’s an older hotel, but our room was spacious, the bathroom had a girly look, and the balcony view was great. Best of all, it was quiet. We enjoyed our stay!

The atmosphere was lovely, the food delicious, and the service impeccable. Their kids’ meals may be the most thoughtful and best in town. When our son fell asleep, they even arranged a ride back to our hotel. We’re incredibly grateful. Highly recommended!

The good points were a decent breakfast, a comfortable bed, and a free shuttle bus. If it costs under CHF 200 a night, it could work as a budget option for backpackers with modest expectations. But the room wasn’t cleaned well, and the poor sound insulation meant we could hear neighbors and even the lift engine. The balcony door or window was broken, apparently due to its age. Reception felt cold and unfriendly, and the hotel is far from the ski lifts, at the village entrance. At dinner, the restaurant runs two sittings a night. It felt like they were trying to maximize takings, and guests get ushered out for the next group while staff rush around. It came across as a tourist trap. Though rated three stars, the actual quality felt more like a two star budget hotel.

Martin & Annette and the staff made me feel so welcome, like I was staying at their own place. I travel a lot and rarely get that feeling. They were always smiling, and the service was top notch. The electric shuttle picked us up from the silos parking. Breakfast was excellent, and the rooms were clean and spacious. Dinner was great too. If you’re into meat, this is the place in town. “the gentleman cut” was delicious, both medium-rare and rare.
