Hotel Restaurant La Poste

The renovated interior is lovely, and the waitress was attentive, but the food was bad. The Italian food ranged from mediocre to poor, and the white wine I ordered was clearly watered down. I mentioned it to the waitress, then had the same problem with a glass of red. I can’t understand how such basic Italian food could be prepared so badly. My visit eight months earlier was OK, so it’s too bad things have gone from decent to bad. Hopefully they get a new chef. One star for the atmosphere and service, zero for the food.

The mixed salad was very generous, and the food was good. They’ve recently added fondue, which was OK, and have a great white wine to go with it. We waited 45 minutes from being seated to getting the salad starter. It was a long wait, though the staff clearly weren’t slacking.

There was weeks’ worth of dust and mess under the bed, and the toilets looked like this when we arrived. Rooms are cleaned every two days, with no breakfast or room service available. For four people, we were given just half a roll of toilet paper, and when we ran short in the middle of the night there was nobody to call for more. We tried to check out early, but they kept our money and refused a refund. The owner has no customer service. Stay away.

It took 1 hour and 45 minutes to get served, and nobody apologized. The staff were extremely disorganized and unhelpful. The caneloni were good once we finally ate, at 2 PM.
