AVES Hotel Savognin

The rooms were modern, very clean, and quiet, and the staff were friendly. We also enjoyed the evening restaurant. The locally made cheese and meat were a nice touch. Breakfast was CHF 20 per person, which felt steep for what was offered. There was no fruit or waffles, despite what the listing advertised, so that cost us a star. Also, smoke from a neighbor outside drifted into our room and was very uncomfortable. Without breakfast, though, this is a wonderful place.

We loved the views from every window and the breakfast, which had everything we wanted. The reception staff were so kind and always willing to help. The rooms were spotless, and the location was hard to beat. We’ll definitely return!

We paid 260 CHF a night for a hotel that looks great, but the details didn’t live up to the price. The restaurant was the biggest disappointment: we paid 40 CHF for food that reminded us of school dinners, with everything frozen and low quality. Breakfast was similarly poor, with nothing fresh apart from the local cheese. The hotel calls itself dog friendly, but dogs can only go in your room or the lobby. In our very hot room, number 320, there was no air circulation or way to cool it down. There were no drink-making facilities, the TV couldn’t be cast to, and the shower head seemed like the cheapest available. It’s a new hotel with a lot of potential, but it lacks attention to detail. To me, it felt more like a modern hostel with a four-star price.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and parking was free for guests. The hotel is in a quiet location, although a mountain stream runs behind it and might be loud for some people. I didn’t try breakfast or any of the other meals.
