The four-course dinner was delicious and great value, and the waiters were attentive and very friendly. Our room was cleaned to a high standard every day, and the hotel sits in a lovely spot in the village with good views. The whole place feels warm and welcoming, with exceptional service. I’d happily recommend it and hope to return.

We looked forward to dinner at Hotel Privata each evening, which is unusual for us when traveling. The food was fantastic, with nothing I can think of to criticize, and the rooms were comfortable. We came as part of a hotel-to-hotel hiking trip and hadn’t expected much, but the staff’s hospitality made the stay feel personal in a way many hotels haven’t over the years. The same family has run the place for more than 100 years and remains involved. Dumeng Giovanoli, the owner’s father, is in his 80s, still active in the kitchen, and served us himself. It’s a real gem. If we’re in Switzerland again, we’d go out of our way to stay here. I’d give Hotel Privata six stars if I could.

We met several guests who have returned to 'Privata' every year for over 20-30 years, and I can see why. It’s a small, intimate family hotel in the beautiful Engadin mountains, close to Italy, with wonderful hospitality and a personal touch.
