Hotel Ristorante Lagrev

The setting on beautiful Isola is one of a kind, just unbelievably lovely. We’ve been coming to Lagrev Ristorante for 15 years for their simple, delicious food made with care, and the tasty cakes we always enjoy.

We stopped in for coffee and dessert and were wowed by the homemade cakes. They serve plenty of main dishes too, along with coffee and other drinks. The postcard-like setting and super nice staff make it a place where you’ll want to leave a tip. I can honestly recommend it. It’s pet-friendly as well.

The owners and food are both amazing, and the location is top-notch. The walks nearby can be easy or challenging, depending what you choose. It’s great in winter and summer alike. On my favorites list!

Getting there means walking or biking, since you can’t reach the restaurant directly by car. It’s in Isola, a tiny picturesque village beside gorgeous Sils lake, with roofs made from local slate or granite. The place serves authentic Italian and Engadine specialties. We had homemade chestnut tagliatelle or gnocchi, polenta with Bergell sausage, venison ragout from local hunting, and garden salad with goat’s cheese from Isola and Bregaglia. There’s a handwritten thank-you letter from Max Frisch, the renowned Swiss playwright and novelist, hanging on the restaurant wall.
