Hotel Seraina

The hotel is comfortable, with spacious rooms right in the heart of Sils Maria. There’s also a cute outdoor bar. The restaurant was a mixed bag, though the apple strudel was fantastic. Breakfast choices were limited, and at this price I’d expect a hot breakfast to be included. Unfortunately, you had to pay extra for it.

The rooms at hotel Seraina were absolutely charming, and the receptionist was very kind. The wellness area was relaxing, but it only opens for 3h30 at the end of the day. That’s inconvenient if you’re there for a weekend and need to leave Sunday afternoon. We were generally satisfied, though better information in advance would’ve helped us plan the trip. The restaurant food was good but very expensive for what you get. I wouldn’t recommend the Rösti: for 25 francs, you get just three extra pieces of mushroom and barely visible bacon. It’s also better to book directly with the hotel instead of using an external party, which costs about 100 extra francs per night. You may also miss out on offers, such as a ski day for only 45 francs through the hotel compared with 110 francs at the ski station.

The sandwich I ordered for €10 didn’t make much of an impression, and the Coke was even more disappointing. The bottle they served was already open and flat. Staff replaced it after I pointed that out, but the second bottle was also already open and wasn’t opened in front of me, so I wondered if it had been refilled. I expected better quality and service.

The employees were friendly and the location was excellent. Rooms were nice and clean, but the walls don’t block much sound, so you hear quite a lot from the neighbors.
