Dinner was wonderful, with superb presentation and lovely, attentive service. The rooms were spacious and the shower excellent, though the bed wasn’t great. It was very quiet, and the location right in the centre is perfect.

You’re paying for the central location and historic atmosphere. It’s an old hotel with plenty of character, and it’s serviceable, but things are a bit creaky. I can’t say the reception staff were helpful until I pushed them to be.

The location is very good, and I liked the hotel, restaurant, and breakfast. I’m not keen on the shower curtains, although the ones at this hotel weren’t bad.

The clock is a little loud, though maybe it stops chiming overnight or you get used to it. It’s a lovely old hotel with great staff and a fantastic restaurant.
