BERG & BERG Apartments - Spiez Self-Check-in

The balcony view is amazing, and the station is only a five-minute walk away. The rooms are large, but they got very hot in summer, and one fan wasn’t enough to make them comfortable. The shower cubicle in the bathroom is tiny. My hands and head kept hitting the walls. We also couldn’t use the stove or oven at first. Their main switch was hidden in the electrical board in the wardrobe, and it took us a whole day to find it. It should be near the kitchen appliances, or there should be clear instructions. Check-in is entirely contactless and took a while. When we called for help, it wasn’t answered quickly. After a long trip in extreme summer heat, trying to work out how to get in was frustrating. There’s no elevator either, so you have to carry luggage up and down the stairs.

The hotel, staff, and apartment were all great. The problem was the software. I booked through booking.com, it didn’t work, and then they asked me to pay a second time. That was a real pain.

The view covers a lot of the service problems, honestly. Self check-in was ridiculously complicated, and although they said to call if there was a problem, nobody answered. They didn’t change the towels, and the old frying pan made everything stick. Room assignments are apparently random, but we got a lake view and were so happy. Cooking samgyeopsal and ramyeon and eating it on the terrace felt like heaven. Took off one star for the chaotic service.

The apartment itself was modern, spacious, and comfortable, with a fantastic balcony view. But there’s no parking. Self check-in didn’t work at first, the access instructions weren’t clear enough, and we got the late check-out information much too late.
