Hotel Krone

We left at 19:00 to find somewhere else to stay, with no apology or offer of a goodwill gesture. We were told every room uses the same mattress and pillows. The bed was the worst we've had in Switzerland in six years, and we are both under 50. The pillows were extremely soft, and the very thin foam mattress was so uncomfortable I couldn't sleep even after lying down for 40 minutes. I can usually sleep anywhere, even on the ground in parks or on public transport, but could feel every box spring through it. I woke in a lot of pain, and my partner agreed the mattress and pillow were very uncomfortable. If you have joint problems or are over 40, I'd say don't stay here. For a four-star hotel, I expect a better bed than the cheapest youth hostel.

Julie at the front desk was so nice when we checked in, and gave us helpful information. The hotel was very clean and had everything we needed. We loved having the coffee station on the floor each morning, along with fruit and other offerings. Its location made it easy to walk to restaurants, shops, bars, and other places. We loved the hotel and would definitely book again when we're next in Thun.

We used Hotel Krone Thun as our base for five nights of travel around Switzerland, and had a very pleasant stay. I had a spacious Double Room Classic with a large bathroom. The hotel is in a great spot, an easy walk from the station and handy for seeing Thun, which is a lovely town with everything. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room heater wasn't warm enough, so they brought us a small extra heater, much appreciated. Each day they also left a personalized leaflet with my name, the weather, ideas for things to do, and restaurant suggestions. I was impressed with both the hotel and Thun, and it made the trip feel perfect.

Everything was a real treat during my unforgettable week at Hotel Krone. I was lucky to get a big, bright room with a private courtyard on the fourth floor, reached by a wooden staircase from the third. The location is very central, with everything nearby, and the Panorama Card for free public transport is a valuable extra. The staff were super friendly and breakfast had a good variety. I would have liked a small electric kettle to make a drink in private after a busy day, just a suggestion. I highly recommend giving this hotel a try.
