Zunfthaus zu Metzgern

We were glad we arrived early for our family dinner, since we'd already reserved. Later in the evening it filled up and got very, very loud, making conversation difficult. It's right in central Thun, with a view of the castle, and around the end of November there's a big Christmas tree nearby, right in front of the building. The food was good, portions were big, and prices were average. I ordered rösti, my favorite Swiss dish, but it was a little too salty, maybe because of the bacon. The rest of my family had a pleasant dinner, so maybe it was just the rösti, or my tongue.

The food was great, but the waiters were very rude. I've usually been treated well in Switzerland, and I wouldn't come back because of the way the staff treated us. I can find great food with good customer service plenty of other places. Maybe the high ratings are because a lot of people are rating the hotel only.

The shared bathrooms were always clean and smelled good, so no need to worry about those. The rooms are really cute, and the location is quiet but central, hard to beat. With the windows open, the fountain in the nearby square is a lovely sound to fall asleep to. Highly recommended.

Lunch turned into an awful experience. After a 30-minute wait, my cordonbleu arrived completely burned. The meat was very low quality, the vegetables were old and dry, and the fries were extremely salty. I complained and couldn't eat the dish, but THEY MADE ME PAY full price for food that wasn't eatable. Any other restaurant would have taken it off the bill. Don't choose this place, you'll waste your money and your good mood.
