We had a lovely stay. The area was beautiful, with great views and plenty of places to eat nearby. Our cute room and bathroom were just as nice, and the shower had amazing pressure. They even gave us a delicious free coffee.

We arrived with our two 7 year old children and were told we had room 42. After wandering around, we learned there was no room 42 in the hotel itself. Someone eventually directed us out of the hotel and through another entrance. That’s where the nightmare started. The entrance was incredibly worn and old, like grandma’s closet, and the room was up in an attic. The toilet and bathroom were outside the room, in the corridor of that terrible staircase, and neither had a sink. I can’t imagine this kind of setup existing in the 21st century. The room also smelled musty and old and looked nothing like the booking photos. We asked to move into a room that matched what we’d paid for, but got no answer at first. Later, we were told the room matched our reservation. The owner was extremely unfriendly. We had to find another hotel at 9:00 PM, and they didn’t refund a penny for the room we felt was misrepresented. It was our most horrible hotel experience.

This place is reasonably priced and handy for Interlaken OST, about 15 minutes away. It suits couples, solo travelers and people on a budget, though it’s not ideal for families. The kitchen is shared, and there’s no private refrigerator in the unit. There’s no air conditioning either, but they do provide a fan. Ours was broken on day one and promptly replaced the next day. The bar downstairs seems to be a separate business from the “Bar” in “Bed & Bar.” We were eating outside in the bar seating area when a woman at the bar, possibly the owner, politely asked us to leave. A sign explaining that the businesses are separate would help.

We could hear heavy footsteps from other rooms because the room was tiny and the soundproofing was so poor. On top of that, we couldn’t get in touch with anyone at all. The response rate was literally zero, which I’ve never experienced before. This ended up being the least cost-effective place of our whole trip in Switzerland, and the most disappointing stay of the trip.
