Gasthaus am Brunnen

The staff and Matthias are what make this place for us. They strike a great balance between being professional and genuinely friendly, and they're phenomenal. We've been coming back as often as we can for about 2-3 years, so yes, there's some bias here. The food is amazing, changes things up, uses local produce, and looks beautiful. It feels like Michelin-level cooking, if not better. Seven out of five stars, really. Just don't book while we're there! 🤣🤣

We stopped in for lunch with the family and chose two courses from the options of two, three, four, or five. Both dishes were beautifully presented and very tasty. It's fine dining, so expect quality rather than huge portions. We didn't stay overnight, so I can't comment on the rooms.

After our hike we stopped for coffee and cake, and both were lovely. The two waiters were especially great, super friendly and funny. Keep it up 😊

Our original lunch plan fell through because the other restaurant was closed, so we turned back and found Gasthaus Brunnen by chance. We were greeted warmly, and chef Matthias even came out to say hello and talk us through his food creations. We had a mixed salad, asparagus soup, and local roast beef with fries. The presentation was striking, and the flavors really impressed us. My wife and I wouldn't usually choose somewhere like this, but the lunch prices were reasonable and made it well worth a visit. It's surprising to find a place like this in a sleepy town in the middle of Switzerland. We left blown away by the food. Such an unexpectedly great lunch!
