I’d suggest this place for a quick snack or a drink, rather than dinner. The staff didn’t seem well trained. Even a simple order, tea with rum and coffee with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, seemed to overwhelm them.

The rösti was really tasty, and the cheese on it was out of this world. We’d heard this restaurant had good rösti, so we went in while visiting Vals. The place is small and cozy, and I’d gladly return for rösti on my next visit. The menu was in German, and the owner/server didn’t speak English, so we used Google Translate to place our order. The rösti was around 20 CHF; with tap water and tax, the bill came to about CHF 25. A great place to try if you’re in Vals. This review is for the restaurant only.

The people were very kind. We were able to check in at 9am and got a room upgrade. It’s right in the centre. Breakfast wasn’t much, but it was off season and nobody else was there.
