Hotel Abaca

The front desk man was kind, and I appreciated the helpful information he gave us. He seemed like a sweet person. The view from rooms where you can see the lake and mountains looked decent. Our room, though, smelled strongly of urine to me, and the bathroom was even worse. The sheets smelled possibly of smoke, despite the hotel being smoke free. My partner has a poor sense of smell but could notice it too. We were both itchy all night. The walls could use paint and the floor was a sight. It was very hot, even with the fan they provided, which I appreciated. We opened the window, but loud bass from music went on until at least 4 in the morning. Some of the other guests felt questionable. One couple (?) parked across two spaces, pushed our car door shut while we were unloading, then followed us up the stairs much too closely. To reach the parking lot you drive down a short alley, where groups of men with children hang out. Lots of people on balconies in the neighboring apartments stare down while you unload.

We were really satisfied with the hotel. The rooms were nice and clean, and the receptionist was patient and very kind. He walked us through the services and local sights. The hotel is also well connected to the city centre.

We had a lovely stay in this small but comfortable place, and were lucky to get a room with a lake view. The host and receptionist were terrific, and breakfast was great too.

The room on the 7th floor was tiny, and the bathroom felt like one on an airplane. The photos didn’t show us how small it would be. It was hot and stuffy, and there was no kettle or tea setup. The lift only went to the 6th floor, something we weren’t warned about. When we asked to change rooms, they refused. Make sure you check before you go. After check-in, nobody was around to help. Not a good stay. Stay away.
