Hotel Al Lago

The hosts were very friendly, and the location is lovely. Some rooms look straight out over the lake. But the rooms are basic, and breakfast was even more so: bread, cheese, coffee, milk, and juice, with no eggs or fruit. I asked and got packaged muesli. At 165 Eur a night, it felt overpriced. The mattress was too soft and worn for a comfortable sleep. A few modest upgrades, especially to breakfast and the mattresses, could easily earn a better rating from me.

Our room was small but sufficient, clean, and made up. We had a great stay and really enjoyed it. The terrace view is amazing, and the restaurant is a good place for dinner, breakfast, or just coffee. We tried lasagne, pizza, and the James Bond cordon bleu; the food was good, especially for the prices. Breakfast was simple, with fresh bread, cheese, ham, coffee and tea, plus orange juice, packaged jam and butter. For the price, it was fine. The young waitress was kind and attentive without hovering. She understood what we wanted even though our Italian isn’t very good, and she helped clean the dishes we’d used for our hiking picnic. The older waitress at breakfast seemed a bit moody and less considerate, which was my one small complaint.

A nice place to stop while visiting the area, with great food, friendly service, and beautiful views over the Veraszca Valley.

The veranda has an amazing view, and the food is good at a reasonable price. Staff are very nice and friendly. The rooms are clean and pleasant, with good WiFi, but there’s no TV. Parking is available. A car is best for exploring all the beautiful places nearby.
