Seehotel Gotthard

The lake is so easy to reach from the hotel, and I had a glorious swim on arrival day. I also walked after dinner each night and, as a woman on my own, always felt safe. The scenery is beautiful whichever way you go. My family and I hope to return to serene Weggis, and we’d stay here again for sure. It’s centrally located, and guests get 20% off tickets to Mt. Rigi and other activities. The hotel has charm, lovely views, and comfortable rooms, even if it isn’t fancy. I had booked junior suite 427 with my parents, but a family emergency meant they couldn’t come. It was the only room left when I booked, and for three adults it would have been tight, though we could have managed. A closet divider separates the bedroom from the sitting area and pullout couch. There are 7-8 windows with excellent lake and mountain views. My room was clean, with a good-sized bathroom. They provide soap and a combined shampoo and body gel, so I was glad I brought my own shampoo and conditioner. I wish there were irons in the rooms, but there’s a shared laundry room on the 1st floor where you can iron. I stayed two nights and could easily have stayed longer. The AC unit seems to be a recent addition, and I appreciated it since the days were hot, even though evenings cooled down. Everyone on staff was kind and accommodating. Breakfast was fabulous, with lots of fresh fruit, eggs, cheese, meats, yogurt, cereal, breads, croissants, homemade jam, and excellent coffee. I ate at the restaurant both nights and loved the fresh grilled pike-perch from the summer menu, which is available only when it isn’t raining. It seemed popular with locals too. Do make a reservation. Thanks to all the staff, including the sweet, relatively new concierge and Lea at breakfast.

Eating at the restaurant was a real pleasure. Every dish was delicious and full of flavor, and the presentation was lovely. The staff were genuinely friendly and made sure we had what we needed throughout the meal. The rooms were roomy and clean, with the necessary amenities and very comfortable beds. The location right beside Lake Lucerne gives you a beautiful view, and you can relax by the pool or swim in the lake. From the moment I arrived, the staff were helpful and friendly. My stay at SeeHotel Gotthard was wonderful, and I’d recommend it to anyone after a pleasant, convenient stay in Wggis.

We ended up having dinner at the lakeside restaurant every evening, and it was superb. The room was fantastic too, bright and opening onto a balcony with the lake just in front. Friendly, smiling staff were quick to help, whether it was sorting out a parking spot or finding us a restaurant table at short notice. We could also use the nearby pool and, of course, the lake. We had a wonderful stay at Seehotel Gotthard and will be back as soon as we get the chance.

We sat in the sun for an hour before finally putting up an umbrella ourselves. Our lunch had been reserved and preordered, but service was still poor: the meals took a very long time, and one was forgotten. The food arrived cold, and finding hair in two dishes made it seem unhygienic.
